NOTE: Danville IL is 1.5 hours from Indy, 2.5 from Chicagoland, 3.5 from St. Louis.

THIS IS A PAID, FULL TIME FULL SEMESTER CO-OP POSITION -- one student will be WORKING:

  1. FULL TIME CO-OP WORK IN Summer 2017, M-F 8-4,
  2. FULL TIME CO-OP WORK in Fall 2017, M-F 8-4, *OR** SPRING '18 M-F 8-4 <possibility to do a single, full year -Jan thru Dec '18 - for the right student.> 
  3. likelihood of returning Summer 2018.

 

Students may elect to take off either their Fall semester or their Spring semester to complete the full semester ful time co-operative portion of this internship.

 

Dec' 2017 GRADUATES IN THE RIGHT DEGREE FIELDS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

 

We are currently seeking a full time co-operative education student currently in electronics, electrical engineering, hardware engineering or computer engineering programs. A significant number of our former interns and every graduated, successful co-op have been offered regular employment here at Watchfire after graduation or when they later chose to return to the Danville community.

 

This co-op internship is a hands-on real world position, assisting our Electrical Engineers with new hardware design, prototyping, hardware testing, board level repair, manufacturing protocols (Design for Manufacturing), parts and vendor research and more.  Board level work includes thru-hole and SMT componentry, and both board level and component level diagnostics and component selection.

This PAID internship will focus upon our Electrical Engineering team, and may also occasionally assist our Mechanical Engineering group.

 

Interns must be at least 18 years of age, and must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Interns must be enrolled for the fall 2015 semester in one of the degree programs above, or similar.

Responsibilities

Assist the hardware design electrical engineers as requested, including:

  • prototyping
  • component/vendor research/recommendations
  • sample testing including durability, extreme environmental conditions, etc.
  • basic CAD layout and adjustments
  • test fixture design, testing, and documentation
  • cost reduction research and testing
  • new product development
  • documentation

Assist the mechanical engineering design team as requested, including AutoCAD, Solidworks, possibly Inventor.

Required Education/Qualifications

  • Fall 2017 semester, full time enrolled student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Technology, EET, ME, MET or Computer Science or other approved degree program.  (Must be enrolled to be considered for this Co-Op.)
  • DEC 2017 GRADUATES IN THE RIGHT DEGREE FIELDS WILL BE CONSIDERED.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be 18 years of age by start of semester.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work FULL TIME, 40 hours per week, both summer and fall 2015, at our Danville IL location.
  • Must have permanent full authorization to work in the US, without needing sponsorship now or in the future (no OPT, CPT, H1B candidates.)

Our internships are anticipated to work this co-op the entire semester, assuming quality work. Of course, all positions are "at will" and an internship is not a guarantee of work for a set period of time. Each semester, we again review applications and if a student is interested and still eligible, consider them for the new semester. Likewise an internship is not a guarantee of regular hire upon graduation.
